“I refuse to be linguistically constrained by dictionary writers.”

Hey guys! How are you all today? Hungry? Yep. Me too. Probably. Well, you’re going to want to start reading books by Amy E. Reichert because OMG she knows how to write about food! And a whole lot of other things that are equally fun to read about. (I LIE, what is more fun to read about than food?!)

So, Luck, Love & Lemon Pie follows wife and mother, M J, whose husband, Chris, is basically losing interest in her and would rather spend time in the casino. She figures that maybe they should go on dates there-if she gets involved in his interests, they’ll end up spending more time together, right? Right?! Wrong! However, unexpectedly, M J discovers she is kind of awesome at poker. So awesome in fact that she soon finds herself in Vegas, attracting a LOT of attention. And not just from people interested in her poker skills. What does M J do? You’ll just have to go and read the book to find out!

Luck, Love & Lemon Pie was a fast paced, fun read that was both amusing and filled with heart. You’ll find yourself wondering why on earth you don’t have more books set in Milwaukee/haven’t booked a holiday there yet, yearning to stuff your face with lemon pie (recipe helpfully supplied!) and rooting completely for M J as she muddles along through the book. I also adored the reference to one of the characters from her previous book, The Coincidence of Coconut Cake, which I suggest you read first so you can enjoy spotting them too!

I’m giving this book 4/5 stars as I loved it and can’t wait to read her next book! Amy is quickly becoming an auto-buy author for me. And she should be for any of you that love your books heartwarming, smart, funny and filled with delicious lemon pie that WILL make you salivate onto the page. That’s a promise.

“A good recipe, like a good marriage, is always improving.”
