Collectible Editions

I love collecting books. I’m a true bibliophile. And with more and more publishing companies choosing to release such stunning collections of books, particularly the classics, where do you begin?!

My advice is to think about which authors you want to read or own the works of. Is there one author in particular or do you just want a good range? Next, have a look at different editions of the book you want and choose the one that appeals the most to you. Collecting is fun if you try and collect just a few collections. Anymore than that and you’re going to have to have a LOT of patience as you slowly collect books… Unless you’re very rich of course!

So here are some of my favourites.

My first go to was Jane Austen. I read a lot of the classics in university when I was a poor student and the library was my best friend! So her books were the first I had to own my own copy of. Naturally, I fell in love with these Vintage Classics editions of Austen. These are paperbacks and very reasonably priced on Amazon.

I fell in love with the bright colours and adorable patterns of polka dots, stripes and trees. So cute!

After I had collected my Jane Austens, I fixated my book loving eye on these beauties. I think these are in all honesty, my absolute favourites! These are the Puffin in Bloom editions with gorgeous, unabashedly floral designs by Anna Rifle Bond and are just plain adorable!

I bought mine from Amazon but if you live in the US and order them from RiflePaperCo, you get matching bookmarks with them.

Since I had these gifted to me, they’ve released a bigger, fully illustrated edition of Alice in Wonderland which of course I have to have next!

If you’re as hooked on bookstagram as I am, you may have noticed several bookstagrammers that have gorgeous collections of Penguin Clothbound Classics.

Well I couldn’t resist anymore and I’ve made it one of my resolutions for 2016 to start collecting these beauties!

I’m now the proud owner of Anna Karenina and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall.

These are more expensive than the previous editions so I’ll be collecting them slowly across the year.  The nice thing is the range of authors this collection represents. So much variety!

These next editions are for all you UK booklovers as I’ve only seen these in Waterstones and am not sure if you can buy them anywhere else… Let me know if I’m wrong about this.

Well I started collecting these by accident as my husband surprised me with Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde andThe Greatest Works of Sherlock Holmes and now I’m hooked!

These Penguin Classics are the most expensive of all the books I’m collecting at about £20 each (ouch!) but thankfully there are less of them.

And if you need more gorgeous bookporn, I have been known to instastalk the feeds of @perksoftales   @_halfbl00dprincess and  @catebutler and I suggest you guys do too!

Let me know which editions you guys are collecting or want to!
